La Madre Bakery - Sourdough Bread
La Madre Bakery is an award-winning artisan bakery based in Geelong, Victoria, using age-old recipies to create hand-made organic sourdough, rye sourdough and traditional breads, fruit tarts and delicoius seasonal desserts. La Madre deliver fresh to Winchelsea Larder (our retail outlet in the centre of Winchelsea's shopping strip) on Wednesdays and Fridays ; reserve orders welcome, but make sure you order 2 days ahead as the sourdough takes a whole day to 'cure'! Extra time is taken to develop that delicious thick crust and subtle sour flavour that makes our breads so unique. Each loaf is a hand moulded blend of organic flours, filtered water, pure sea salt and natural airborne yeast. This leavening process is known as La Madre – The Mother.
La Madre Bakery products are also available in a wide range of restaurants, cafés and gourmet food stores throughout Geelong, Melbourne, the Surf Coast and Country Victoria, and at La Madre's bakery itself.
